A short-term student visa allows you to study in the UK on short-term courses. A short-term student visa can be opened for 6 months or 11 months, but to understand exactly what period to apply for, you need to know which type of course you intend to take:
- Language courses or other courses, the duration of which from the 1st week to 6 months are supposed to open a 6-month visa;
- For English courses lasting from 9 to 11 months you are supposed to open an 11-month visa; You can only apply for this visa if you are 16 years old or older;
- If the courses include learning English and other disciplines for more than 6 months, then you need to open a long-term Tier 4 student visa, the nuances of which we will discuss in the next article.
With a short-term student visa to the UK, you will not be able to:
- Learn at public expense;
- Work or start a business;
- Extend your visa;
- Bring family members who are dependent on you, they must apply for a separate visa;
- Receive public funding;

You can apply for a visa 3 months before the start of training. The embassy's review period is three weeks. You can also apply for an expedited approval process.
To convince the embassy to issue you a short-term visa to England you need to prove that:
- The educational institution accepts you for courses and is also licensed to work with international students;
- You have enough finances to provide for yourself or your child in the UK;
- If a student is under 16 years old and plans to go to Britain unaccompanied by adults you must provide a notarized permission from both parents or guardians to travel to the UK. You should also have a letter from the educational institution that is used to notify local authorities of the student's arrival under the age of 16, for which the educational institution is responsible for the student while the student is in the UK.
Please note that if a student under the age of 16 will be accompanied by adults (parents or guardians), these people must be listed on the student's visa. You can specify up to 2 persons. If the student tries to cross the border without escorts which are specified in the visa, he/she will be denied entry into the country.
