Canada is a very hospitable country with unique nature and attractions. Tourists more and more often visit it. It should not be forgotten that the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, one of the most extensive in the world in the number of Ukrainians, is very popular as a tourism destination for our citizens. Before planning a trip, it is necessary to clarify the visa formalities for this country. All Ukrainians must get a visa.
The first step is to prepare a package of documents. It is very important before you start the visa application process to familiarize yourself with the requirements of the visa application process, mainly with the list of documents. If any documents are missing you should renew or replace each one. All documents need to be translated into English or French.
The second step is to decide on the purpose of the visit. A tourist visa to Canada, guest, or business is all the same visitor visa type.
The third is to choose a way to apply, online or through the Visa Center of Canada.
Fourth, you need to fill out the main application about the family and, and if necessary, the supplement to the main application (Schedule 1) and information about the civil or common law spouse. All forms can be found on the website of the Government of Canada. The questionnaires can be filled out in English or French. The data must be stated truthfully. If false information is provided, the application will probably be refused, and you could be banned from applying again for up to 5 years. If you choose to submit online, you must download all required, translated documents along with the application.
Once all the forms are filled out you need to pay the consular fee. The cost of a visa to Canada is $185 CAN. This price includes the review of your documents and the fee for biometric data. The exception is a transit visa to Canada for Ukrainians which is free.
We remind you that as of July 31, 2018, citizens of Ukraine from the age of 14 to 79 must be fingerprinted. Biometric data will be stored in the system for 10 years. This procedure can be done in the Visa Center of Canada in Kiev or in Lviv. You must schedule the fingerprint appointment in advance.
The procedure of fingerprinting and filing documents is very simple and takes about 30 minutes. There is no interview. Once all the data has been submitted, your documents will be reviewed within 14 business days.
During 2020, a visa to Canada for Ukrainians is usually issued for 10 years or until the end of the passport.
Because it can take a significant amount of time to prepare documents and complete the application, it can take a total of 3 weeks to a month to apply for a visa to Canada. The visa response comes either online in the system through which documents are filed or in an envelope which you can pick up at the Visa Center where the documents were filed. In the case of denial, your passport will not be marked. You will be provided a letter specifying the reason or reasons for the denial.
